The Underdark Campaign intro
The dawn of the draw is upon us. Out of the Demonweb Pit they swarmed, and into the eternal night of the Lightless Lands. Fanatic priestesses of the tyrant-goddess, Lolth, rule all, and aim to conquer all. The first rumors of an overworld are being heard, and the priestesses speak with utter confidence of conquering the surface in less than 100 years. Perhaps they speak the truth. The matriarchy and in sooth, all females wield some measure of the divine wrath of Lolth Herself. The male warriors thrive and survive in the most deadly environment in all of Toril, perfecting the art form of the blade in their daily struggle for survival. The dark elf magi wield earth shattering magic, further empowered by faerzress, the natural magical radiation of the Underdark. Hundreds of thousands of goblins, orcs, ogres, and other beasts have been enslaved and bred for war. The greatest enemies the drow know, ilithids, mind flayers, are being systematically eradicated. What, then, will stand between the drow and total domination? Nothing...
Except for a brave and foolish few. Two young gods cautiously gather followers. Vhaeraun, God of Thieves, Assassins, and most blasphemous of all, equality in the sexes, brother of Lolth. A secret, highly elite cabal of rogues and ne'er-do-wells rises to power in the Middledark. Rumors say Vhaeraun's avatar leads this new guild, or some Chosen mortal, the champion of the Masked Lord. Meanwhile, Lolth's exiled daughter, Eilistraee gathers an extremely strange and out of place group of followers: those with good impulses. These two forces have both sworn the same thing... To bring an end to the horror that is Lolth.
The Chronicles of the Lightless Land follow the adventures of an eclectic group of heroes and villains: T'kal Zahara, the Hidden Hand; two gloaming brothers, a mercenary and a crazed assassin; an orog berserked; a stout duergar warrior; a wily agent of Velve'Velkyn, the Unseen Knives.
The campaign begins once again May 27th, with Brian Dodson, Hack-certified Dungeon Master, at the helm.
