Hark, a dwarf!
Thorgrim Stonebeard moves with grim determination and purposeful strides, heading into the Underdark to seek his fortune. A life of endless toil and back-breaking manual labor are not what he seeks, he searches for a better life, one without mindless drudgery and meaningless work. Towards this end he will head, selling his services to the highest bidder. Adventure and combat are what he is best suited for, and far be it for him to go against what he was born to do.
The Underdark
Once, long ago, a group of deep denizens became embroiled in events beyond their comprehension. The mad quest of a single drow house led to the death of most of the travelling group, with the deadly purpose still unknown. Those who survived the interhouse feud found themselves thrown through a mysterious portal, in a bizarre crystal maze. Lost and desperate, this motley crew of heroes had to struggle against the dwellers of the maze, as well as the internal forces that threatened to rip the group apart, in order to survive.
Finally, they made their way to the center of the maze, to learn a disturbing truth: Lolth, Queen of Spiders, patron to the dark elves, had spawned. A new goddess, freshly born, begged our heroes to slay her mother.
Time has passed since those fateful days, and our heroes have returned to the tunnels and caverns they call home. To this day, they struggle for survival in a world harsh and cold, and dream of fame and power, the true currency of the Underdark.
That goddess' request lingers on. Join us Thursday, May 27th, as we plunge back into the lightless depths of Faerun.
A scrawled post script by T'kal:
One wonders, however, just how many "heroes" were present on that fateful day in the crystal maze... for heroes are a rare commodity in the Underdark, and not particularly valued. The only heroes known are dead heroes, heroes of "legend." Those who survive do so by ferocity, treachery, and betrayal. Can such a weak, "loving" goddess as Eilestraee survive in the Underdark? Only time will tell.
